Acrylic pot painting

Acrylic pots can brighten up any boring interior. Be it your kitchen, bedroom, living room or your bathroom. paint the pots, put in some scented dried flowers and marbles.

Things you need

1) Terracota pots ( The prices of these pots range from Rs.10 - Rs.30. They are available in open markets in Bnagalore and Chennai)
2) Acrylic poster colors
3) Stones and sequins
4) Varnish or fixative spray (optional)

Method

1) Clean the pots with a clean cloth

2) Paint a base coat on the pot. You can use any plain color and apply two to three coats and leave to dry.

3) Draw a pattern with a pencil and start painting a pattern of your choice within the pattern.

4) Leave he paint to dry. Once completely dried paste the stones and sequins using fevicol.

5) Protect your creation by applying varnish or spray a fixative spray.

Tissue paper pom poms

Believe it or not. I am in love with these pom poms. These are easy to create, and gives your room interiors a vibrant brilliance. I have hung them for over six months now and is very well in shape.

You can create these pom poms of varying sizes and it fills the room space as well. Be it a kitty party, a baby shower or even a romantic surprise, these pom poms are a must to have in your room.

Things you need

1) Tissue paper ( You can go for paper napkins of different colors. The colored tissue papers are available in most craft stores.)
2) Colorless twine
3) Cello clear tape
4) Scissors

Method

1) Take a set of 15 - 20 tissue papers and place them one below the other.
Note: The more the number of tissue papers, the fluffier the pom poms.

2) Cut the set into a perfect square .

3) Staple at the center and tie a twine in the center. Remember the twine is to be suspended from the ceiling. Make sure the twine is long enough.

4) Now start folding the tissue paper like you would make a fan. Click here for detailed info.

5) Cut the edges of the tissue paper like an arrow

6) Open the leaves of the tissue paper one by one. Make sure you do this carefully.

7) Suspend the pom pom on to the ceiling using the twine wire.

Egg Mosaic Name Plate

Ola! This easy to make name plate is a fun project and saves you a deal on time and money. The requirements for this project are easily available in the market, most of which are  scrap.

Egg shell mosaic is a brilliant way to utilise the left over egg shells and it imparts a fine 3D look as well.

Things you need

1) Plywood - Any desired shape, I chose 45 cm length x 10 cm width

2) Egg shells - Broken to varying sizes

3) M-seal - You get to buy these in any hardware shore or a craft shop. 

4) Acrylic Colors or Poster Colors

5) Old Bangle

6) Twine for installation

7) Hooks ( You can get these hooks at any hardware store)

Method

1) Color the plywood with your color of choice. Apply two to three coats and leave it for drying.

2) Make alphabets out of the M-seal and allow it to set.

Note: You need to work quick with the M-seal. M-seal tends to harden fast and you need to be quick with creating the alphabet shapes. To clear out the wrinkles, dip a brush or your finger in water and dab on the mseal creation to create a smooth surface.

3) Paste the broken egg shells on the convex surface so as the concave surface faces the outside. You can create a pattern with the shell pieces as well. Allow the shell mosaic to dry.

4) Once the M-seal has dried completely, paste the M-seal using fevicol on the plywood. Paste the bangle as well.

5) Now its the fun time Color the shells and the m-seal creations using your favorite acrylic colors or poster colors. Let it dry

6) Screw in the hooks and loop the twine through these hooks and install it on your door.

Total time required - 30 minutes to 1 hour
